I won't spoil it for anyone, but... I think the ultimate moment of joy for me was that both of my kids got it, and squeed with me!!!

*sniff* I'm so proud!! Bless their geeky little boots!!

My gift-fic was posted at weasley_fest today! Well, I should say, it's a gift for ME, not the one I wrote. Y'all will just have to go to weasley_fest every day and read so you can guess which one I wrote!

Anyhow, my gift was posted today here. It's called "Growing Season" and it's a really good story! Go, read, and tell the mystery author how much you love it!!

I got home from picking up the kids and refereeing a squabble (why does a trip that takes five minutes feel like two hours when your kids are fighting?), so I was nice and cranky and very much the Bear. When I got up on the front porch, I saw the mail had come, and what did I find in the mailbox?

Okay, so it was drawn by the Impertinent Daughter! Still... it's FANART, from one of MY fics!! She's like... my NUMBER ONE FAN!! OKAY??

It's funny, because we were sitting here talking while I was trying to finish something up, and she'd asked me, "If you could have fanart from just one of your fics, which one would it be?"

"Hmmmmm," I said, thinking it over. "Oh, I know. From Heroes and Hobbits..."

"Hugo curled up in Percy's lap? Yeah, I like that one, too," she said, grinning.

I was stunned. "You remember that?" I said, totally surprised. "I mean, just from the title, you remember that?"

"Of course, I do!" she said, looking very affronted. "I remember every one of the stories you've let me read! I love your stories!!" Then she smirked and said, "Just for that, I'm not going to draw that picture. I'll draw something else"

I meant to post about this yesterday, but over on weasley_fest, some lovely, wonderful, absolutely DARLING person posted fanart... for ME!!!!

*squees loudly and at an impossibly high pitch*

Auntie will never complain, but no one has EVER done fanart for ME, and I'm so HAPPY!!!

The Husbandly One GOT ME A NEW LAPTOP!!!

Dance of joy, dance of joy!!

We were talking about the old laptop, which THO bought TEN YEARS AGO! And he said, "Do you realize that thing is almost eleven years old?"

I said, "It's older than that. It was a reconditioned one that Toshiba was offering to the employees of your company. It was already five years old then!"

He blinked. "Fifteen years old, then."

It is seriously beat up, and I am going to have a hard time figuring out how to get my Word files off of it. The floppy drive is refusing to accept discs, there is NO USB port (yes, it is THAT OLD!)... I may have to do it all by hand! But still... I GOT A NEW LAPTOP!!! YAAAAAY!!!!

He got it in preparation for our trip to Washington, since he knows I will probably go through severe withdrawals if I can't at least peek at my journals during that time. Plus, we can watch movies on it, so we're also looking at it as entertainment for the Impossible Son during the inevitable slow times.

He got it, too, to encourage my writing so I can go wherever I want and... SQUEEEEEEE!!!
