Things that Wolfie and Auntie Share
1. We can both remember watching Neil Armstrong walking on the moon... live.
2. For us, the Disney Channel was NBC, and it came on Sunday nights, for one hour, 7pm. Disney's Wonderful World of Color. That's it.
3. If we were lucky and had access to a UHF station, cartoons came on for one hour in the morning and in the afternoon.
4. Howdy Doody was a happenin' dude, Lost in Space was awesome, and hey, how 'bout those gals who lived in... Hooterville!!
5. The Flintstones came on during prime time, once a week.
6. We got to watch every episode of Star Trek... when it was brand, spanking new!!
7. We can remember watching our parents opening Coke in a can with a can opener. But no one drank Coke out of a can if they could help it, because it tasted awful! Instead, we drank it out of a bottle, and if we were lucky, we'd get a small bottle of Coke all to ourselves!!
8. Frosty Root Beer. 'Nuff said.
9. When Star Wars came out, Wolfie probably did the same thing I did and saw it multiple times, learning by about the fifth time to get there early, and race everyone to get to a seat in the front row. Why did we want to sit in the front row? Because, during the Death Star battle scene, if you were in the front row and craned your head back just the right way when Luke was flying into those "canyons," you'd feel a sense of motion, and almost lift out of your seat when he'd dive. It was the coolest thing ever, and probably inspired the rides that have come out in the last ten years that involve just that sort of thing!
10. Disco and polyester. FTW.
Happy Birthday, Wolfie!! We're not old. We're VINTAGE!
