All to myself!
Tuesday, September 27th, 2005 11:34 pmWell, well, Darlings!
Auntie and her family survived the evacuation. The hurricane didn't hit Houston, so Auntie's loved ones who couldn't leave were safe and sound, and those who were able to make it to my house are now back home, and I have my house to myself again! Yay! I have to admit, I was suffering a severe case of writer's withdrawal while they were here. Unable to work on anything, because the moment my butt hit the chair, someone would pop up and say, "What are you doing?" It was enough to drive Auntie distracted! Despite that, I managed to not be too snarly about it, merely closing out whatever I was working on and hunching over to mutter, "nothing," before slinking away to hide in a dark corner and whimper. No, I wasn't that bad, but pretty close!
The kids, of course, had a high old time, having other people to entertain and show all their favorite things to, and show off to. Nothing like a captive audience. I must commend the Husbandly One's brother and his lifemate for sitting through three showings of "The Adventures of Sharkboy and Lavagirl," at least one of them in 3-D. Nothing funnier than two gay men sitting on a couch with a four year old and a nine year old between them, all of them wearing pink and blue 3-D glasses. Heh heh heh. Heck, if they'd been a heterosexual couple, it would have been funny, but it's even funnier if one of them is 7 feet tall. They even sat through "Kiki's Delivery Service," "The Cat Returns," and "Spirited Away." Of course, Miyazaki's work is a little easier to sit through multiple times than "Sharkboy and Lavagirl," but still, I commend my brothers-in-love for doing it. Auntie loves you both!!
Still, I am glad it is over and done with, and let us hope the Hurricane Gods give the Gulf Coast a bit of a break. As badly as we need rain where I live, I do not want it at other folk's expense. Silly attitude, I know, but I moved here to get away from hurricanes. Not fun.
Just in case you were wondering, today is my birthday, and as for Auntie's age, well, I am the Ultimate Answer to the Ultimate Question of the universe, which for you Douglas Adams fans translates to "What do you get when you multiply six times seven." When did Auntie get this old? Though, I don't really FEEL this old. Actually, to tell you the truth, right now, I feel about 27. Although earlier today, I felt 84. But right now, I feel 27. Guess I'd better trundle off to bed. Nighty night, darlings!
