Who are you, and what have you done with Auntie?
Tuesday, January 9th, 2007 08:36 amJust thought I'd post something about a good start to my day, for once. The kids' lunches were made WITHOUT my having to go into the Impertinent Daughter's room every five minutes to yank off the covers and say, "Get up! Get up now!! Get out of bed!! Get out of bed or I'm getting the ice!!"
I managed to get dressed and find clothes that were (1) warm, (2) clean, (3) weren't too loose, or too tight and (4) didn't make me look like a very small man. And my hair didn't look like it was trying to escape from my head.
The Impossible Son was reluctant to wake up, but once he was awake, he cooperated in getting dressed, and even did some of it for himself (YAY!!) and we only had one balk. No, he didn't want to wear the Buzz Lightyear sweatshirt, he wanted to wear something that had been sitting out in the backyard for THREE DAYS!! But when I put my foot down firmly and said, "No way," he DIDN'T throw himself into a temper tantrum, he just shrugged and found something else, and he actually FOUND IT QUICKLY AND I AGREED TO IT!! Okay, so the colors were rather wonky and clashing but it was (1) warm, (2) clean, and (3) not covered in glue, paint, glitter, or food stains. This is a Good Thing.
Everyone's shoes were easily found, and put on feet without protest. I even found MY shoes quickly. And we were EARLY to school!
Surely, the world is going to end today. The other shoe is going to drop. But until it does, I'm going to sit here and bask in the warm glow of a really nice morning. Even if I am freezing my butt off!
