I SURVIVED!!
Sunday, April 1st, 2007 09:14 pmI did it. I did my first 5K and I survived, in spite of the Hills From Hell. Okay, so I only did HALF of the 5K and I walked, but that's one half more than I coulda done last year!! Finished my half in about 36 minutes, which ain't half bad at all! I'll take it!!
The Husbandly One did the full 5K, walking also (because I wasn't really ready to RUN the damn thing, not yet), and finished in under an hour. I'm so proud of him! Now he's all chuffed for the next one, and though I'm really sore (because those hills, I'm telling you, they were AWFUL!! The kind that, if you're riding a bike, you get OFF to walk it UP. Yeah, like that!), I can't help but laugh and think, yeah, sure, I'll do it again, and maybe next time, I'll actually do the whole thing!
I'm just glad I did it at all. I had a really lousy week, asthma-wise, and that sort of slowed me down, so the fact that I did it at all is sort of a miracle. Yeah, I know, I'm babbling. I'm just... relieved that I didn't... you know... DIE!! Or plaster myself to the pavement because I tripped on air molecules, etc. Y'all have NO IDEA how clumsy I am sometimes!
So... I survived. Aren't y'all glad? And yes, there were a couple of kids from the high school boy's varsity cross country track team there to inspire me and keep me moving! YAY!!!
Ain't I a stinker?
*laughs*
