Sorry about yesterday's post. I am in the middle of cleaning my house, and it is a... gargantuan task. Mainly because I have been more or less out of commission for months. I tend to hoard my energy at such times, choosing to expend it on things like... being with my kids. Doing the bare minimum of upkeep around the house. Hanging out with the Husbandly One. YOU know.
So, I'm feeling better, I have more energy... and I have a deadline. It's our turn to host the family dinner, and I am in manic overdrive. No, I'm not quite swabbing in corners with Q-tips, but I am tackling the Laundry Monster (and oh, what a monster it is!! Nearly the size of an effin' dragon it is!) Not to mention trying to get the Impertinent Daughter to clean her room.
She's 12. She's a girl. She's an artist. Now... imagine her room.
Oh gods. Yeah.
Mostly, the kids start to work on something, lose interest, and while I'm yanking out stuff and going, "WTF is this and why is it in the laundry hamper??" they have decided to take a break. A very long break. Involving Blueberry Pomegranate juice and Nintendo DS. On the couch. And while I am glad they are getting along, I'd like them to get along while cleaning their rooms!! Or tackling the Laundry Room of Doom. Or picking up the yard. Or... well, you get the picture.
I've already scrubbed both bathrooms, repaired the shower curtains, rehung one door and fixed it (it's a long story, involving a Pokemon/Star Wars/Harry Potter crossover and cardboard tubes. On second thought... don't ask), cleaned out the kitchen cabinets, scrubbed out the fridge, scraped stuff off the living room floor that I still don't wanna know what it was, scrubbed the kitchen table, vacuumed the laundry room rug, vacuumed the Impossible Son's room, cleaned all the ceiling fans...
And I still have a lot more to do.
Right now? Mr. Manzie is cleaning out the litterbox, and Miss Priss is tidying the bathroom she shares with her brother (hey, two kids, I turn my back and things get dirty right after I clean them. This time, I'm making her do it and maybe she'll be slower to trash things), and I am tackling my carpet. At the moment, the carpet is winning.
And Palmer? Thanks for the offer of alcohol! It helped, it really, really did. Made me laugh and put things back in perspective. Did I mention I think you are the bee's knees?
