"If you're gonna ride my ass, at least pull my hair..."

So... yesterday...
Long day. Oh, what a long day!
The Impossible Son was complaining of a back ache, it hurt to pee, and oh boy did his teeth hurt!! Which is what I meant by everything happening at once.
So I called the doctor to make an appointment for yesterday, and called the dentist to make an appointment for today.
What fun, right?
So, got him in to the doctor's, they do the poking and prodding, and make him pee in a cup, during which I wished it had been the Husbandly One taking him to the doctor! However, I bravely held the cup, taking it away before it overfloweth, and took him back to the exam room for more poking and prodding. During which the PA determined that no, it wasn't his kidneys causing the back pain, but... we don't know what is so... she sent us to San Marcos for X-rays.
*sigh*
In the meantime, she discovered a little irritated spot just under his foreskin, which explained why it hurt to pee. Because he's so small, she had to get on her knees to look at it (the stool would only go so low), and then she gestured me over to look at it, too, so I got on my knees to peer at it, and was suddenly convulsed with a wild desire to laugh when it dawned on me that my precocious son, at age 9, had two women on their knees to look at his tallywacker.
Will he ever surpass such a moment again?
*dies*
Anyway, the PA prescribed a cream for the irritation twice a day, and we went home to eat before heading into San Marcos for the X-rays.
They took six shots of his spine, all in various positions, and he was very patient, cooperative, and good, chatting with the X-ray tech about soccer, video games, soccer, Sponge Bob, soccer, and more soccer. This scored him two (TWO!!) lollipops and a glow-in-the-dark sticker proclaiming that he had survived an X-ray. I asked the tech if he often had problems, and he rolled his eyes and said, "Auntie, I've had teenagers who aren't as well-behaved as your son was! Trust me, I appreciate every good kid I see!"
*is proudly proud of her offspring*
By the time we got back to our own little town, it was too close to time to pick up the Impertinent Daughter to go home, so I picked up Mr. Manzie's medicine, then headed over to the junior high and parked in the parking lot to crochet while I waited for Miss Priss. Didn't get much done, because the Tall Blonde drove up, parked next to me, and since she's on the soccer board, proceeded to fill me in on our latest crisis, which involves unrestrained dogs with no obedience training being brought to the fields at practices and on game days, and being allowed by their owners to just run around and get into trouble. I'll post about this latest headache later, but oy... my head!! Just thinking about it... ay-yi-yi!!
The Impertinent One was grumpy when she got to the car, thanks to a second day of TAKS testing (yes, they had their Math TAKS on Tuesday, and the Reading TAKS yesterday), so it was a quiet drive home. She retreated to her room, and Mr. Impossible settled onto the couch, and I went to find caffeine to stay awake, because seriously, y'all, Auntie was wiped!!
In fact, I fell asleep in the middle of watching a movie later, because I literally just could not stay awake any longer!
Today, we went to the dentist to find out why Mr. Impossible's teeth were hurting. He has two caps on his upper left molars, and I thought perhaps he had some food caught up there that I just couldn't get to with floss. And yes, there was some food up there that Dr. L. got out with a hook, but... that wasn't the problem.
He's basically reabsorbing the tooth.
Sometime last fall, he ran face-first into a tree and cut his lip up pretty good. The dentist thinks that's what started the process, and there's not really a lot she can do about it except either let it be until it's done, or pull it and put in a spacer. The fact that it's causing him pain every time he chews says pull it, so... he's getting it "extracted" next week. Yay.
And yay for finding out that our insurance will cover it, despite not having Dr. L. on their provider list.
*is very relieved*
And now, I must search out some caffeine, so I can stay awake at least until after time to pick up Miss Priss. It's past time for me to see the endocrinologist again, and get all straightened out. I just... have to wait until these little emergencies are done!
