auntbijouGuess I need to put "Anonymous Call Blocker" back up on my phone. That obnoxious group that has been calling with the hateful recording exhorting listeners to press one if they're against legislation supporting gay marriage has upped the ante. NOW they want you to support legislation that would prevent child pornography...oh... and by the way... the legislation also happens to BAN GAY MARRIAGE!!
Talk about having a bee up your butt.
What is with these people? And why, oh, why are they calling me, a person who has voted liberal pretty much since I got my first voter's registration card?? What are they so afraid of? That maybe gays would actually be BETTER at marriage than straights?? Because come on... our record isn't the best!! Um... since when is committed, loving relationships a threat to marriage? Isn't that what marriage is all about??? Divorce... infidelity... spousal abuse... alcoholism... drug-addiction... aren't those greater threats to marriage today than anything else? What about how the tax system discriminates against couples who file jointly? I mean, just sitting down and thinking about it, I can come up with a whole LOT of things that are more threatening to the "sacred institution of marriage" than two people who love each other and are totally committed to each other and don't want to be with anyone else for the rest of their lives. For all the yammering about procreation and all, marriage just isn't about that. It can't be. It has to be about more.
Ech... what I want is for these idiots to stop calling ME!! And if they're going to call me, don't call me with some dad-gummed recording, that is so chicken-shit it doesn't even deserve mention. If you're going to be stupid enough to call Auntie, of all people, and be stupid enough to ask HER to support this asinine, useless, unsupportable legislation, and have the nerve to attach it as a rider to a law against child pornography, then do it yourself, don't let a machine do it, and be prepared to take your lumps, because believe me, honey, Auntie pulls no punches! I will tell you how you are wrong, why you are wrong, what the consequences of your stupidity are going to be, and why you should delete yourself from the gene pool! So... STOP CALLING ME!!!
