You know, it wasn't supposed to be this cold today! A front blew through during the night, and it was in the forties when we hit the soccer fields for opening day. Omigosh, we froze our butts off!! The Impossible Son's game was first, at 11 am, and the wind was blowing so hard that the kids ended up having to chase the ball to keep it ON the field more than anything else! Poor Little Man turned into a popsicle! I couldn't find his sweats to wear under his wind shorts, and you know, when we left the house, it didn't seem so bad. I keep forgetting that no matter how warm it seems here, it's going to be much colder out at the soccer fields.
I took him home when his game was over to bundle him up properly, and grab the Husbandly One's jacket. Silly man thought a sweatshirt would be plenty warm for him. HA. Of course, where he's concerned, if you see him go out in a sweater with the sleeves rolled down to his wrists, you know it's chilly. If he's got a jacket on, and the jacket sleeves are down, you know you'd better bundle up!
The Impossible Daughter's team played at noon, and in spite of the fact that they, too, were bundled up against the wind, they won 5 to 2. And then their coach took them out for ICE CREAM!! Which they ate with great enthusiasm!! However, next time Coach decides to take them to Smitty's for ice cream, I think I better beg off and ask to be dropped off at home. Smitty's is a barbecue place and yes, they serve ice cream by the scoop. The place is just filled with smoke, and every time we go, I end up with a deep cough. So no more Smitty's for me. I spent all last summer in bed with pneumonia, I don't wanna spend any more time there than I have to, thanks, I'll just curl up on the couch with a good book.
Speaking of curling up, this is going to be short, as I am feeling out of sorts right now, thanks to my cough. So I think I will go back to bed and prop up on some pillows, close my eyes, and stare at the back of my eyelids for a while. I'm sure my chest will stop hurting soon. Yay, Advil.
Think I'll think about that rally the Impossible Daughter started, and the look of stunned surprise on the face of the boy she stole the ball from. I guess he thought she was too small and dainty to do something so... underhanded. It ended in a score. It was great. Okay, I'm going to doze now.
Sleepily,
Auntie
