So, the kids have recovered FIRST.

Of course!

And they are very HYPER, after having been too listless to do more than cough or ask for another Koolaid slushie for over a week, so they are ALL OVER THE PLACE!!!

I, of course, am still listless, but I am forced to EMULATE having the energy to keep up with everything.  Damn, I should get an Oscar for this!  I know, I know, it's all part of being a mom, but times like this, I truly, truly wish that I could just go back to bed, pull the covers up over my head, and SLEEP!!

My mother said once, after a few years, you get used to the sleep deprivation, and learn to function on less sleep.  This way, by the time you are old and therefore have PLENTY of time to sleep... you can't.  I know what she means.  Some days, no matter how tired I am, I cannot get to sleep before midnight.  Other times, I hit the Wall of Fatigue, face first, and I'm down, no matter what.  No matter how much caffeine I pour down my desperate throat, no matter how much will-power I exert, I have to go to sleep, and I will tell the kids, "If either one of you steps foot outside the door, you will be grounded for the foreseeable future.  If you destroy anything inside the house, up to and including your sibling, I will make sure that your first date sees every single embarrassing picture I have ever taken of you, and I will even give them copies to take to school and show around.  I am going to sleep now.  Have fun."

It's amazing how orderly the house is when I wake up three hours later.

I'm presently trying to motivate myself to go clean the kitchen.  Eurgh, it's awful.  The Husbandly One and I have been sick, and saving our energy for cooking and minimal cleaning, and oh, does it show.  This is one of those times I wish we had access to Alice Nelson.  You know, the maid from "The Brady Bunch."  Yep, SHE could clean the kitchen!  That would be GREAT!! And ... the Laundry Monster.  I'm sure she could manage the Laundry Monster just fine.

You know what I hate most about house work?  No matter how much you do it... it's never done.  Once you finish one part, you look around and THERE'S MORE TO DO!!  It's never ending!!  And if you get sick?  *groans*  Maybe we should just leave it all here and start over with a COMPLETELY NEW HOUSE!!

Heh, heh, yeah, I know, dream on, Auntie!
