Grab a chair and a couple of root beers...

Oh, I want to go to THIS so bad! Because Anne McCaffrey will be there, and she's like... my hero. Anne McCaffrey, Andre Norton, Marion Zimmer Bradley, Ursula K. LeGuin, Madeleine L'Engle... all women who wrote science fiction and fantasy at a time when women were only a very small part of the genre. They're all my heroes, and they are all the reason I write. I spent hours in the public library, looking for their books and reading and re-reading them. Though I admit, I didn't discover Anne McCaffrey until after my best friend introduced her books to me, and my best friend will tell you that I can be sometimes resistant to reading something new. Believe it or not, I wasn't the least bit interested in Harry Potter at first, until she talked me into at least trying one out!

But, I would love to see Anne McCaffrey. She's like... 82, and she doesn't leave Ireland all that often anymore, so...

*sigh*

However, Dragon Con will be over Labor Day weekend, which is a really bad time for us as well as being a horrible travel weekend.

If any of you are going, say hello to Anne for me!
