We've arrived, and are now in our hotel. Miss Priss had a major melt-down yesterday before we were ready to leave for Dallas, which threw the Husbandly One and I completely. Seems she had this idea in her head that we were going to stay in really awful hotels, gods know why, and she was nervous about flying for the first time. I don't know how we did it, exactly, but we convinced her to get into the car and go to Dallas with us. The Hyatt at DFW airport did a great deal to ease her worries on the Hotel From Hell worries, and then the airport settled her a bit more.

I nearly balked, though, when I saw the size of the plane we were flying to Cincinnati on. It was small, like a commuter plane. I HATE flying on small planes. It's like riding on a kite, as far as I'm concerned. I've only been airsick two times. Once because I ordered orange juice rather than soda during a flight, and ewwwwwww... and the other time, because I was on a commuter flight between Hobby and Intercontinental (which is now Bush International) in Houston. So, I nearly stopped and said, "oh, hell no!" But, I looked at the Impertinent One and knew if I said diddly squat, we weren't going to get her on the plane, period. So I smiled, and stayed calm, and did NOT get airsick by sheer force of will (though I very badly wanted to). It's amazing what you can do, if it's for your kids.

For now, she does NOT want to do the People to People thing, which is the whole reason we're here. She's shy, like her mom, and it's kinda scary, doing something so new. This is why we went ahead and reserved a room for four people, way back in May. Just In Case. However, she doesn't need to report in until tomorrow afternoon, so we have all day to not push her, and led her decide on her own to at least go look at things.

So, Auntie is tired, and wanting very much to go take a nice hot shower, and a good night's sleep. And looking forward to meeting [personal profile] failuresofine on Wednesday.
