It was an event filled weekend.  Yesterday, yours truly got to ride on a float and wave nicely at all the nice people sitting on the sides of the road for the Chisolm Trail Days parade.  Yes, you see, supposedly, the town I live in was on the Chisholm Trail, which was a route cattle drovers used to take herds of cattle up to Abilene, and then up further north from Texas.  So, every year we have Chisholm Trail Days. I was on the youth soccer league's float along with my kids, the Husbandly One (since he's a coach), other board members, and lots of eager teenagers willing to run out into the crowd to pass out lollipops with information about the upcoming soccer camp registration.  It was a long, hot ride, and this time, I remembered my hat. (YAY).  It was my first parade sitting down, as most of my other parade experiences have involved marching, usually behind a troop of horses, and occasionally avoiding their inevitable deposits.

The kids had a blast, blowing bubbles and tossing balls around.  I had to remind them, "Hey, this is a SOCCER league, not a VOLLEYBALL league.  USE YOUR FEET!!"

We got second place.   YAY!!

Today, we went to Wimberly to go swimming at Blue Hole.

*pause to sigh*

It was wonderful.  Okay, it was colder than a witch's tit in a January blizzard, but it was WONDERFUL!!  The water was so clear, and the creek only had a gentle current, so I didn't have to worry about one of the spawn being swept away like I do in the San Marcos river, which is a good thing, considering my shoulder.  Here, go looky:

I think I like it even better than Krause Springs, which is saying quite a lot, because I love Krause Springs.  Blue Hole, however, is not surrounded by gigantic, EXTREMELY slippery boulders, and isn't crowded to the point of bursting.  (Everybody and his dog knows about Krause Springs now).  So there is no place for Auntie to do one of her spectacular, death-defying slips that terrify her family and go SPLAT on a rock.  It was shady, and I didn't feel like I was slowly baking to death when I was sitting and reading under a tree while the rest of the family cavorted in the water.  It was GREAT!  Only sour note?  I left my sketch book at home, like an idiot, because when we went to Canyon Lake last week, there was nothing sketch-worthy in sight.  So, I left it at home, thinking maybe I'd find an opportunity another time.  HA!!  Shoulda took it, of course!  Murphy's Law!

Anyhow, I had a good time in spite of that loss, and now we are all pleasantly worn out.

I'm also glad I finally managed to get my contribution to [profile] hrroundrobinposted before we left.  Man, that was driving me friggin' nuts last night!  I was ready to start smashing and tearing things!  I would get error messages telling me first that my username was bad, or that it just plain didn't exist (despite allowing me to login).  Once I got that straightened out, I would preview before posting (a safety precaution I've been taking for a while now), see that everything looked ship-shape and Bristol fashion, then I'd click "post entry."

This is where I would start tearing my hair out.

The little LJ page would pop up brightly saying, 'Your entry has been posted!" and the usual you-can-read-it-click-here thing, and I would and stare in astonishment as I'd find entire blocks of text... rearranged.  Or... complete gibberish.  One paragraph would be nothing but 1's and 0's.  I had no idea I could write fic in binary code!!  *most impressed with self*  However, most of you do not READ in binary code, so... I  had to delete it and try to start over again.  The Husbandly One finally had to drag me, spitting and snarling, away from the computer and stuff me into bed.

This morning wasn't any better, but I finally got the damn thing up.  Yay, me.  So if you'd like, go to [profile] hrroundrobinand read what I, and many others, have been up to.  Yes, complete and total mischief, I know.  It's a Harry and Ron comm, so I know at least a couple of you on my flist will get a kick out of it.  (hint, hint, [personal profile] shocolate).

That's all I have to contribute for now.  I'm all for a hefty dose of Advil, and passing out for the duration.

Love to all!

Auntie
