Update...

My parents are fine. Except for some downed tree branches, and no electricity, they came through the storm unscathed. The Practical Sister and her family are all right, as well. They lost their fence, and no electricity either, but there was no flooding in their neighborhood, so they're okay. I haven't heard from the Blonde Sister yet, but it may be that they lost their landline phone. I'll try one of their cells in a bit.

Uncle Scientist and Uncle Artist are fine, too, though they lost two big trees in their backyard, and in the process, had their power lines ripped out of the back of their house, and the cable and phone lines as well. There's some water leaks in the living room, but other than that, they're fine.

And I got a semi-coherent phone call from [profile] vicki_sine at around seven a.m., more or less, in which she sounded very distracted, but otherwise okay, so... I'm not too worried, but Mum, if you could give us a call in a little while, I could set my mind at ease. Otherwise, I might have to start baking just to settle my worries, and you know how I get when I do that!

Thank you all who replied to my last frantic post. I really needed to hear those words, and as most of you said, I got through it!

The Impossible Son has recovered, and is much clearer now. The Impertinent Daughter has an appointment with a gyno who specializes in teenagers, so we've got that covered. And the Husbandly One has recovered from his stomach bug.

I am pondering at the moment whether or not to remove the curtains hanging in our bedroom. They came with the house, and I took them down Friday to throw them in the washing machine, because they hadn't been washed in like... two years. Talk about DUST!!

Anyhow, THO (who had the day off) and I were going to take down the blinds as well so we could give them a thorough scrubbing OUTSIDE and discovered the previous homeowners had done something rather screwy. They installed the blinds, then put up molding around the windows so that... you can't take the blinds out. Unless they're Amazigly Flexible Blinds, which I seriously doubt. I stared at THO. "How the hell are we supposed to get these things clean? because a vacuum is seriously not going to do it."

"I have no idea," he said as he studied the molding. "At least, not without damaging the molding."

Later, while I was still pondering the problem, I couldn't help but notice that our bedroom seemed... well... bigger, and more open. However, the blinds in the window on the side where our neighbors can peer right in from their upstairs window are damaged, and won't fully close, so... we keep the curtains drawn, especially at night. When the curtains were clean, I hung them up and... the room shrank.

Dammit. We'll have to figure out how the hell to get the blinds out of the windows so we can replace them!! Fraggitalltohellandgone!!!

In other news, only three and a half days left of school before I have the little monsters with me full time. Oops, did I call them monsters? My bad.

*whimpers*

I'm just... envisioning a summer of dealing with Miss Priss' mood swings, which are more like mood CHASMS. I've had to take her off Zyrtec-D, because it just made them WORSE *shudders in horror* and put her back on Claritin. Her nose is stopped up, but... she's much more pleasant to deal with!

I told THO I feel like I should carry a bag of Hershey's kisses in my purse, and every time she gets snarly and moody, I'll grab one, unwrap it, and pop it into her mouth and say, "There you go, sweetie... all better now?" while she gets that blissed out, half drunken look of a serious chocolate addict on her face. And when she starts getting all emo again, I'll just unwrap another and pop THAT one in her mouth, and so on, and so on, and so on.

He nearly died laughing, then said, "So... does that mean I should do that for you, too?"

What on earth is he talking about??

Well, that's it for now. I just wanted y'all to know I'm still alive. Mostly.

Love,

Auntie
