Still not getting comment notifications, apparently because LJ and my email provider don't play nice together. But, LJ is working on it, presumably talking nicely and perhaps offering cookies and a really cool bike and maybe things will be resolved soon.
So, if my replies to your comments seem more sporadic than usual, well, you know why!
In the meantime, I thought y'all might like a peek at one of my current projects. I've been working on it for some time, and I'm getting close to being finished (finally, huzzah!).

It's a blanket I'm crocheting for the Impertinent Daughter. No, not an afghan, a blanket. This is as wide as a blanket for a full size bed, and will soon be as long, and when it is, it will be finished. It takes two strands of yarn, a solid and a variegated, and as y'all can see, I'm using a rug hook. It's a very thick, very heavy blanket, and very, very warm, as you can imagine. I've already made a blue one, and it's on the Impossible Son's bed. When I finish this one, I'll start another for my bed!
When I finish it, I'll take another picture, one of Miss Priss wrapped up in it!
It's funny that I ever took up crocheting, because my mom kept trying to teach me when I was a teenager and I kept refusing to learn. One reason is she had taught me to embroider as a child, to help me find something to calm myself down (Auntie has a bit of a temper, though she's learned better), and really, embroidery makes me want to rip the back of my head off! I can do it, beautifully, but nobody better bother me while I'm doing it! It makes me as nervous as a virgin at a prison rodeo, I swear!
I didn't try learning crochet until I was pregnant with Miss Priss, and I needed something to do with my hands. So my mom handed me some yarn, a crochet hook, and a book and said, "Have fun!"
Made my first afghan after that. I still have it. It's a poor, wonky, lopsided thing, but for some ridiculous reason, both of my kids love it and won't let me do anything to it other than wash it and fold it to put it away, where it won't stay long, turning up in all sorts of odd places to embarrass me when I least expect it.
I currently have two other crochet projects in progress, one of which is nearing completion (I promise,
winterlyoness, you will get it before your daughter starts college!) and the other which is still in the "experimental" stage (I make my own patterns, sometimes).
And I'm finishing up my
harry_holidays fic, which will need beta soon.
Did I mention the tummy virus which has kept me sidelined the last week? No? Oh... never mind!
I must get back to work. Or take a nap, whichever hits first!
Love,
Auntie
