Someone who had "friended" me recently just un-friended me this morning.

I didn't add him or her back, mainly because when I checked his/her LJ, it was filled with photos, some interesting, some not, and on every entry it said, "If you like my photos and you wish to give present for me, you can send some LJ Tokens to me from..." and then had a link the page where you can gift someone with LJ Tokens.

Um... sorry, no. Don't think so. Beside the fact that we had nothing in our interests in common, this... "begging" really annoyed the crap out of me. Granted, this person was posting photos as an... exchange of sorts. Tokens for photos, but... no. Sorry, just... no.

I'm glad they bailed. I was going to give it another week and ban them anyway. Same with someone who added me on Flickr. Not that I don't share that person's interests, but... my kids like to look at my Flickr page, and like to look at the photos my contacts put up (it is so COOL to see what Wil Wheaton posts, I mean... the guy just bought bagfuls and bagfuls of gaming dice at a convention and posted photos of them. TOO COOL!!). I'm not so sure my kids need to see photos of saggy man tits wrapped up in rope, know what I mean?

Heck, I'm not so sure I need to see saggy man tits wrapped up in rope!!

*is squicked*

Why does this make me suddenly want to draw naked Filch tied up shibari style...?

*is doubly squicked*

Okay, I need to head out for my morning walk, before I end up getting back in bed and hiding under the covers!!

There is a fix for those annoying Facebook/Twitter ticky-boxes that are giving us such fits right now. I am grateful to [personal profile] karadin for sharing it, and I will share it, in turn, with y'all. Pass it around, yo.

http://saifai.livejournal.com/285517.html

Now mind, it just gets rid of the ticky boxes in your comment section. It won't keep those who have auto-share or are viewing your journal in their own style from reposting (and you can at least ask them politely not to), but for the rest, you should be covered.

Geez, you'd think with as many users shouting, "Oh, hell the fuck NO," the Bright Young Things responsible for this debacle would turn around and cancel the whole damn thing. But I imagine Facebook and Twitter have a lot invested in this, and I suppose the answer would be for those of us who have Facebook and Twitter accounts to make our displeasure known to those entities. I don't think we have to tell them our usernames, etc, but we can say, "Hey, we have private journals on Livejournal, and we have our public persona on Facebook/Twitter. We have them separate for a REASON. Cut it out NOW or... I'm deleting my Facebook." And mean it.

I have a Facebook. I primarily use it to keep in touch with my family and those friends that I knew from the dawn of time that I still like and enjoy chatting with from a distance (there's a reason for that, you know). HOWEVER, I will delete it in a heartbeat if I had to, to make a point. I've come close a few times, thanks to their lack of understanding on privacy issues. Which... this is just one more example of!

I'm just sayin'...

Okay, I'm posting this anyway, because it's a really incredible video...

BUT...

You see, I saw this on Facebook. One of my RL friends posted it, so I watched it and thought, oh, cool, I'm going to post this on my LJ. But... I'll go to YouTube and get the embed code to do it. I've done it that way for a while, just because I'm funny that way.

So, I go on YouTube, and just as I'm looking down to find the embed code, I see, "Sign up for YouTube with your Facebook account!"

WTF????

Okaaaaay, soooooo... Facebook is taking over everything?? Livejournal, YouTube...

Facebook is the new Evil Empire???

o_O???

Okay, I think that's a little TOO much surreal in my day!

Still not getting comment notifications, apparently because LJ and my email provider don't play nice together. But, LJ is working on it, presumably talking nicely and perhaps offering cookies and a really cool bike and maybe things will be resolved soon.

So, if my replies to your comments seem more sporadic than usual, well, you know why!

In the meantime, I thought y'all might like a peek at one of my current projects. I've been working on it for some time, and I'm getting close to being finished (finally, huzzah!).
It's a big picture, so beware!! )

Spam? What?

Hey... are y'all getting spam from LJ? I got two emails addressed to my username at LJ in my home account, which said "Daily News" but is actually from a so-called "Canadian Pharmacy."

*snorts skeptically*

Clicking their unsubscribe button only sends you to their product page. Of course, I'll be complaining loudly to LJ about this, but... what gives? Is this yet another way LJ wants to pay their bills, or did I not skim far enough through LJ's last update?

Auntie is not a happy camper. I've got spam filters for a REASON, yo.
