Did y'all just hear a wild, horror filled scream that seemed to echo around the planet a few times?

No, no, don't worry... it was just the Husbandly One when I told him that after a few months, the Impertinent Daughter's cycle will sync with mine, and we'll be starting around the same time each month.

I have no idea what that was all about... do you?

The Impertinent Daughter hit an important milestone at 3 a.m. this morning.

*wibbles*

And I am soooooo not ready for it.

*wibbles some more*

Brace yourselves. This is an Extreme Mom Moment, which is threatening to become a complete and total Mom Freak-Out Moment.

She started her period.

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!

*handfuls of hair drift slowly toward the ground*

SHE'S NOT SUPPOSED TO START HER PERIOD YET!! SHE'S NOT 12 YEARS OLD YET!!! THIS IS TOO SOON!! SHE'S PRACTICALLY A BABY!!

I'M NOT READY!!!! AAAAAAAAUGH!!!!

*pant pant pant*

Yeah, she's a little freaked out, too, but actually, she's handling it pretty well. Except for the extreme clinginess part. The kid is practically surgically attached to me. It doesn't help that she's been dealing with strep all weekend (and when her temperature shot up to 104 and wouldn't go down? Oh, joy!!), but at least she's off from school today, and won't have to deal with getting used to having a period AND being at school... yet.

There's always tomorrow.

It's not like we haven't discussed this, because we have. A lot. And yet, last night, after we got her all cleaned up and settled in bed, she said, "So, how long is this supposed to last? Two days, right?"

"Um, more like three to six," I said, trying not to smile. Because she got this horrified look on her face and apparently wanted to hide.

Oh, and wasn't it fun to tell the Husbandly One when I got back to bed? I think they heard him screaming all the way to Houston!! Possibly even New Orleans!!

Funny part was, after he calmed down, and we were snuggled together in bed, I started feeling weird. Cold, shaky, almost nauseated, very spacy, my hands and feet tingling. Took a few minutes to figure it out, and then I realized, holy Mackinoly... I'm going into shock!!!

Yes, a fun time was had by all!

*hides under the bedcovers again*
